Are you having trouble while on WiFi?

Are you experiencing trouble reaching the puzzle site (or others) but only on WiFi?

We have heard reports from a couple users that they have no problems getting to the website except when they are home on their own WiFi, then they get nothing. And as soon as they switch the WiFi off on their phone, they can get in just fine again. Switching back to WiFi causes the connection to break.

We traced this back to the internet modem getting a bad address stuck in the DNS server (the Domain Name Server) which translates the text name into internet addresses.

You can test this by following these steps. Open a command line prompt by opening the start menu and on Windows type "cmd" or on Linux type "terminal" sorry, not sure on Mac but try "terminal". Once there type "nslookup puzzleswaps.com" and it should come up with the address to our site. You should see this information but it may be formatted differently on your computer. The key is information is the address. If you see a different number, then there is a DNS problem.

DNS Lookup

Things you can try to fix this issue:

On Windows, try flushing the DNS cache by typing "ipconfig /flushdns" on the command line.

Try resetting your cable modem (usually a tiny hole in your modem you stick a paper clip into)

Try forcing your DNS settings to ignore your modem and use alternate settings instead. This one is more technical so we are not going to give generic advice here but you can search Google.
