A big change in the message area

While adding features, the message area started to get a bit cluttered with buttons and links. To make the user experience better and to make room for more features, the message are has been cleaned up.

The changes are significant behind the screens and hos some features work have changed. Everything looks much cleaner now so hopefully the changes don't cause any confusion.

Here are the screens side by side. Click on them to make the images larger if needed.

You should notice that the new image is much cleaner to look at. There are only a few buttons and no whilte boxes around text.

The white boxes on the old image were links meant to act like small buttons but they often caused confusion.

Only critical buttons will be displayed on the main screen. Any other buttons will show up when you click on the "Actions" button. This gives us the ability to attache many features to each puzzle block without making a mess of the main window. Below are some examples of possible action buttons that will appear in the popup.

The buttons that are shown in the popup depend on the status of the puzzle you are working with. Clearly, if the puzzle has already shipped, you can't change your address or switch puzzles so those buttons would go away. On the other hand, if you have shipped a puzzle to someone that you started a trade with and that person won't follow through, you can report them using a new button that will show up in the popup several days after you ship your puzzle.

While performing this upgrade, several rough spots were discovered that may have made things a little hard to understand. Anything we found that seemed unclear or tricky got cleaned up. For example, switching puzzles. It does happen that you start a trade and realize that a better puzzle exists in the person't collection. So now you can switch very easily. Although switching isn't totally new, the process was improved a great deal.

Many dialogs boxes that popup now show a small version of the puzzle image and title to help you know which puzzle is being talked about.

If at any time you get confused or have suggestions for improvements, please feel free to contact us. We will keep improving the pages as time and ideas allow.
